Bookseller dies in crash involving his own car
A car crash involving an Illinois bookseller’s car killed one person and injured two others Friday afternoon, police said.
Police said the collision happened just before 11 a.m. at the intersection of Northwest Highway and East Lake Avenue in the city of Chicago, about a half-mile east of the city’s main shopping center.
Police did not immediately release the name of the man who died in the crash.
Chicago police said the driver was an adult male who was driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla.
Police identified the two people who were injured in the collision as a 52-year-old man and a 46-year old woman.
The collision caused extensive damage to the Toyota Corollas front bumper, according to the Chicago Police Department.
A man who lives nearby told reporters he heard the crash and saw the car engulfed in flames.
He said he ran to the car to help people who had fallen out of their cars and to call 911.
Police are investigating whether the crash was an accident.
